Consulado de Colombia en Miami

Es la incorporación de actuaciones, expedientes o documentos que la ley o el juez ordene insertar para su guarda. Esta función en el exterior la realizan los cónsules según lo autorizado por el artículo 5 literal F de la Convención de Viena de 1963 sobre relaciones consulares, (ley 17 de 1971).

Nota: Tenga en cuenta que el original de la escritura debe reposar en el Consulado, por tal razón, si usted desea obtener una copia deberá solicitarla y pagarla.

Any natural or legal person requiring a copy of a public deed must request it from the Colombian consulate at which the document was formalized. For the purpose, you must provide the following information:

  • Number and date of the public deed of which you request a copy.

  • Electronic payment: On the internet, to use the Electronic Payment System, press the Safe Payments On Line button (see our Citizen’s Guide to EPS). Remember that, in order to pay by EPS, you must have an active account in Colombia with a financial entity which provides electronic payment service.

Means of payment must be verified for each consulate. See the Directory of Consulates.

 

A name can be changed once only and the following are the requirements for the purpose:

  • Present the valid citizenship card.
  • Photocopy of both sides of the citizenship card.
  • Authentic copy of the Birth Certificate (issued no more than three months previously).

When the deed has been drawn up, you must:

  • Forward a copy of the deed to Colombia for your Birth Certificate Civil Registration to be annotated.
  • Request a copy of the Birth Certificate with the annotation.
  • Rectifiy your citizenship card.
  • Finally, change the name on your Colombian passport.

The person who is abroad and needs to grant a general proxy to a third person may do so through a private document or public deed. If you wish to do so by public deed, the following documents must be presented:

  • Valid identity document
  • The respective draft for the preparation of the deed.

A person abroad who requires a public deed of recognition of child born out of wedlock to be drawn up must request it from a Colombian consulate by fulfilling the following requirements:

  • Original and photocopy of the father’s citizenship card
  • Photocopy of the mother’s citizenship card
  • Birth certificate of the minor (an authentic copy of the Civil Registration held by the notary)
  • Letter from the mother authorizing the father to recognize his son/daughter
