Natural persons abroad who require the authentication of signatures and copies of documents must request this procedure at a Colombian consulate. Authentication of signatures on public documents is only necessary in countries which are not signatories of the Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Documents or Apostilles and, for the purpose, must meet the following Requirements:
- The original document to be authenticated must be presented for the authentication of signatures. (Only in countries which are not signatories of the Apostille Convention.)
- The original document and the copy to be authenticated must be presented for the authentication of copies of documents.
