Death Certificate Civil Registration

  • Original death certificate issued by a foreign official or entity certifying the date of the death and the name and sex of the deceased.
  • Original citizenship card of the deceased and his/her Colombian passport, if any, and a photocopy of both.
  • Original citizenship card or passport of the person reporting the death and a photocopy of same.

Note: This service is free of charge at colombian consulates abroad.

Please note that documents issued by another state which are in a language other than Spanish, must be translated by an official translator and have an apostille or be legalized, as the case may be.

Please also note that, if the registration is to be made before the Colombian consulate of the circumscription where the marriage took place, the consul can authenticate or effect recognition of the documents without the need for either apostille or legalization.
