TEMPORARY

Art. 43 of Decree 4000 of 2004

First temporary visas must be applied for at a Colombian consulate.

DURATION: This visa may be issued for up to a maximum term of one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days in the same calendar year and permits its holders multiple entries. It is granted to foreigners who wish to visit this country with no intention to establish him/herself here and may be granted to foreigners who require a temporary visitor’s visa under the provisions of Resolution 5707 of 2008:

  • For the purpose of journalism to cover special events, journalists, reporters, cameramen or photographers, or persons who are members of a team of journalists and are certified as such.
  • For commercial or entrepreneurial contacts and activities, to participate in academic activities, in seminars, conferences, symposia, exhibitions, non-regular courses or studies which in any event are not for a duration of more than one academic semester.
  • To hold interviews in a personnel selection process in public or private entities.
  • For medical treatment.
  • For non-remunerated sports, scientific, artistic or cultural events.
  • For foreigners coming to Colombia to receive or provide training for public or private entities, providing no work relationship is established.

 

COSTS

*Payment for the study is not refundable and will be valid only on the day on which payment is made; to present a new visa application, a new fee will be payable..

General Requirements:

  • Presentation of visa application form DP-FO-67, completely filled out and signed by the foreign applicant and not by an intermediary.
  • Valid passport or travel document, in good condition, with a minimum of two blank pages.
  • Three (3) recent 3x3 cm identical full face photographs, in color and against a white background.
  • Copy of the biographical details page of the passport and of the page showing the most recent Colombian visa, if any, and stamp of entry into or departure from Colombia, as appropriate.

Specific Requirements

  • Documents certifying the activity which the foreigner wishing to carry out in Colombia, according to article 13 of Decree 2622 of 2009, which amended article 43 of Decree 4000 of 2004.
  • Documents certifying that his/her economic capacity is sufficient for the activity(ies) to be undertaken in this country.
  • If invited, a letter and document certifying the economic solvency of the person inviting or who assumes responsibility for the foreigner’s stay in and departure from Colombia.
  • Document describing the activities the foreigner wishes to carry out in Colombia.
  • Photocopy or electronic information on the respective tickets for departure from this country.
  •  Documents issued abroad must have an apostille or be legalized by a Colombian consul, as appropriate.
  • Any document in a language other than Spanish must be officially translated into Spanish and the translator's signature must be duly legalized or with an apostille.
