CIVIL REGISTRATION
A civil registration is a document evidencing the civil status of a person, that is, his/her legal situation within his/her family and society, determines the his/her capacity to exercise certain rights and assume certain obligations, is indivisible, unalienable and imprescriptible and its assignation, is in accordance with the law. The civil status of persons is derived from the facts, acts and rulings, establishing it and from their legal definition.
The only evidence of the civil status of persons consists of photocopies, copies and civil registration certifications issued by civil registration officials competent to do so (Decree Law 1260 of 1970).
