This document is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Diplomatic Missions and Consulates accredited abroad for Colombians requiring it. It shall be valid to return to Colombia, to the applicant’s place of residence or to the nearest Colombian Consulate. It may be issued by delegation of Colombian authority through a friendly State and by those which with the Republic of Colombia has signed a memorandum of understanding for such effects. It shall be in force for thirty (30) days from the date of issuance.
Requirements:
- Personally fill the application at the issuing office or through electronic media.
- Personally submit the application at the offices indicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- For persons of legal age, submit a valid original format of the Colombian I.D. Card.
- For under age applicants abroad, an authentic copy of the Registered Birth Certificate issued by the same registration office and/or the I.D. Card, if it exists.
- Previous passport, should it exist.
- In case of loss or theft of the document, the holder must show the report presented before the relevant authorities, or fill an affidavit for this situation at the Colombian Consulates abroad.
