Consulado de Colombia en Miami

What are the concepts issued on a visa application?

The authority responsible for issuing visas will study and verify the documents submitted by the applicant in order to obtain the visa, taking one of the following decisions:

  • Grant
  • Non-admission
  • Denial

In any case, the visa official will refrain from granting a visa to the alien who present disrespectful behavior or threatening, utters insults using foul or derogatory language toward the institution, the Colombian State, its national symbols, or commit other acts that violate the fundamental rights, human dignity and personal integrity of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Despite approval, all visas may be canceled in the Colombian government discretion without being subject to the prior grant; by deportation or expulsion; or when there is evidence of the existence of fraudulent or malicious acts by the applicant to evade compliance with legal requirements that misleads the issuance of a visa.

If a visa is denied, you may only submit a new application after six months starting from the date the visa refusal was informed. The decision takes effect without issuing warrant or resolution.

In case there is a missing document or if deemed necessary to request any additional one, a "request" can be made, by which the alien may attach the required the support documentation.
